STAFF REPORTS
February 5, 2008
The Tippecanoe County Health Department's restaurant inspectors recognized 146 local eateries today with the inaugural Golden Apron Awards for Food Safety Excellence.

"We wanted to recognize those who did an outstanding job," said Ron Cripe, administrator with the department.

The awards were given to restaurants that met the following criteria for 2007:

• No valid complaints.

• No critical violations.

• No more than two noncritical violations if inspected twice in the year or no more than one noncritical violation if inspected once.

• No repeat violations.

• Paid their annual permit on time.

According to Nancy Strack, one of the owners of LongHouse Farm, "We had no violations of any kind for the entire year, either on-site at our kitchen or from our numerous inspections at both the Lafayette and West Lafayette Farmer's Markets and special events. We're really proud!"

We are the proud the recipients of three Golden Apron Awards!
